Why You Should Get to Know Your Parasite

8% of our bodies consist of viruses and bacteria. Not taking into consideration all the additional parasites we might catch during our lifetime. They are living organisms that reside inside our system. On a microscopic level, we can see them behaving quite similar to any other animal. They have a strong survival instinct, they reproduce, they search for food, they cooperate and develop strategies of how best to ensure their existence. For this purpose they strive to gain as much power as possible over our body, because ensuring their survival often requires decisions, that we as their host would not deliberately make. Basically, the parasites are trying to turn us against ourselves. They do this by manipulating our system to mistake their needs for its own.

Imagining that there are living organisms within us that influence our thoughts, desires and behaviours is quite scary. Luckily we can take control of the situation by learning to distinguish the virus’ needs from our own. This might not be easy at first. Because it is an alive civilization that exists within us. Their wants are merging with our own, and we go most of our lives thinking that we follow only our own autonomous decisions. However, we also all know that feeling of „fighting against ourselves“. That moment, when we swore we were not gonna eat sweets anymore, but then cannot stop the obsessive thoughts about chocolate, until we go into full junkie mode, turning all of our drawers and shelves inside out, looking for some leftover chocolate and run to the store in the middle of the night.

In German, there is even a word for “that something” we are fighting: it is called „der innere Schweinehund“, the “inner pig dog”- basically referring to an „inner monster“. Germans didn’t hit far from the truth. Not with the fact that we are fighting something within ourselves, neither with the fact that it is animals. It is indeed this little viral monsters within ourselves who try to impose their own needs upon us, no matter how disadvantageous it might be for our health.

Some of the common symptoms they cause are cravings and inflammations. Viruses and parasites mostly feed off sugar and starch. They could indeed be another reason why we sometimes crave carbs and sugar, although we know it doesn’t do our metabolism any good.

In their digestion process, viruses produce toxic waste materials (i.e. virus poo) that are left all over our body for our immune system to clean up. But if there are too many viral toxins, our immune system cannot keep up with disposing of all the waste. So the toxins start to cause inflammations in various parts of our body, which again our body has to race to rescue.

The influence of the viruses and parasites, doesn’t stop at the occasional cravings and inflammations. They can influence us on a much deeper psychological level. Which throws up the question: Are our character traits much more influenced by the internal processes happening in our body than by mere genetics?

Let me propose a theory: Your emotional state is an exact mirror of your body’s state. This sounds like common sense, but sadly most people suffer from a dire disconnection from their body. They do not perceive the reactions their body has to certain foods, they are unaware of the illnesses developing inside of them and they do not hear their body complaining, until it screams in the stage of terminal disease.

Here’s the deal: If your body is exhausted from having to process too much toxic food that you thoughtlessly shovel in, then you will probably also start suffering from a chronic fatigue syndrome. If your body is in a perpetual fighting mode, because the viral infections are too high, you might feel constantly stressed, restless and easily upset on a psychological level. If we eat clean food that your body can process quickly, you will have high focus and a sharp mind.

Flash news: Your body talks to you. All day, every day. And it is letting you know exactly what is happening on the inside. If you would listen, then none of your sudden mood swings, so-called autoimmune diseases and allergies would be a mystery to you. All of those mysterious appearances have a very logical explanation. But you will not get the explanation from any doctor or machine, you will only get it by attuning to your body.

The level of detachment from our own body is so grand amongst the mainstream society, that many of you might now ask the question: „But how do I talk to my body?“. Others might straightout dismiss the possibility of being in communication with the body.

As self-evident as it should be that our mind and our body are not separate entities, most people live in the convincement that they are. Attunement is fastest achieved with a radical water fast. It clears out our primary communication organ, the stomach and intestines, which are usually blocked with uncanny amounts of food.

Our stomach is our primary brain. If you follow the development process of a fetus in the womb, you will see that the first neurons develop in the belly, then they wander to the heart and lastly the neurons arrive and settle in the brain. Hence we have three brains that are in constant communication with each other: Stomach, heart and brain. When we empty our stomach with a fast, we manage to restore the head-gut communication in the fastest way. There is other and slower ways of gradually restoring this connection, but as you already might guess, all of them include a nutritional change. Because as long as we keep littering our stomach, it will obviously be hard to get through to it and hear its message. Meditation and body awareness practices are another tool that enhances the understanding between brain and body.

Once you understand what causes your moods, you might be surprised at how easy it will be to change some disturbing behavioural patterns with simple changes in nutrition. Things that you thought were part of your character, turn out to simply be your body’s reaction to certain environmental or internal issues. As soon as the issues disappear and your body is internally balanced, you might find yourself being a completely different person.
